This does not have the machine-like or unnatural compression of a standard overdrive, but boosts the pure sound of the guitar and sends to the amplifier. It sounds as though the guitar is connected directly to the amp and should change the way people think of "overdrives." Please think of this as an amp in the shape of a pedal.
